Scientific Name
Plectranthus x hybrida 'Mona Lavender' (Spurflower hybrid, variety: Mona Lavender)

Originates from a 1990s hybrid of P. saccatus and P. hilliardiae ssp. autrale 'Magwa'

Common Name
Indian Borage, Speckled Spurflower, Blue Spurflower, Candlestick Plant

Origin
Native to South Africa and Eswatini

Light
This plant will love a sunny window! Harsh sun can damage some Spurflowers, so make sure the leaves aren't looking too crispy in summer when the sun is at its closest.

Water
This plant likes to dry out a little between waters; it will wilt if it gets too dry, but if you notice this and give it a drink it will bounce back! Look to allow the top half of the soil to dry out between waters.

Humidity
Average household humidity is fine for this plant

Soil
Use well-draining soil; components such as coir, bark and perlite will help stop your Spurflower's roots getting too wet. Repot every few years as the plant grows.

Food
Feed every four waters in the growing season, reduce to every six in autumn and winter.

Temperature
Ideally likes temperatures of 10-26°C, make sure it doesn't get colder than 7°C in winter.

Pet-safe
Yes, but too much nibbling won't be good for pets, small humans or the plant!

Sprouts Top Tips
Plectranthus prefer under-watering to over-watering; they do not like having wet feet but store water in their stems, so if in doubt, maybe give it that extra few days before watering! If it's really thirsty, it will dramatically wilt, and you'll be able to easily perk it up with a water.
