This sun-loving perennial produces vibrant daisy-like flowers in a joyful mix of colours, including pink, purple, white, and soft orange. The blooms of Osteospermum open wide in the sun and close at night or on cloudy days, adding dynamic movement and interest to borders, containers, and bedding displays from late spring through to the first frosts.
Osteospermum, commonly known as the African Daisy, is celebrated for its long flowering period, vivid colours, and tidy, mounded growth habit. Compact and free-flowering, it’s ideal for sunny patios, garden borders, and container arrangements.

Soil
Thrives in free-draining, moderately fertile soil. Performs well in sandy or loamy conditions and dislikes heavy, wet soils.

Feed every 2–3 weeks during the growing season with a high-potash fertiliser to support continuous blooming.

Sprouts Top Tips
Although technically a tender perennial, Osteospermum is best treated as an annual in most UK gardens. In frost-free areas, plants may overwinter outdoors in sheltered, well-drained spots. Combine with other sun-loving annuals like Calibrachoa, Verbena, or silver-leaved foliage for brilliant summer container displays.
