These dwarf tulips see purple centres contrasting with bright pink petals for some gorgeous spring colour. Hardy throughout the UK, down to -20°C.

This gorgeous dwarf tulip will bring vibrant colour to your spring garden year on year in the right location. Its bright pink to crimson red petals have deep purple centres which add that bit of extra colour just when it's needed at the end of winter. This tulip is a cultivar of a species known for its smaller stems and blooms, but don't let its small stature put you off - the unusual bright colours more than make up for it, and its all-round great garden performance has been recognised with the award of an RHS AGM - meaning this plant comes highly recommended, if you need any more reason to love it.

Bulbous Perennial

Bushy flowers

Scientific Name
Tulipa humilis 'Little Beauty' (low-growing turban flower , cultivar: little beauty)

Common Name
Dwarf Tulip, Botanical Tulip, Rock Garden Tulip, Wild Tulip, Little Beauty Tulip

Origin
Originating in the near east, this species of tulip is native to Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey and the Caucasus

Pruning Tips
After flowering, deadhead blooms; allowing the foliage to die back naturally is good for the plant too.

Wildlife Value
Not known for any specific wildlife value, however the bright blooms can be attractive to pollinators when they open.

Positioning
Plant your tulips in full sun, in some shelter from harsh winds

Water
Your tulips should only need watering in very dry spring weather; otherwise take care they aren't too wet as they won't like to sit in puddles.

Soil
Use a well-draining soil - they aren't too fussy on soil type but clay soils won't work well.

Food
Mulch at the beginning of spring or feed throughout the growing season until the leaves start to die back.

Pet-safe
No, this tulip is toxic to cats, dogs and horses

Sprouts Top Tips
Tulips are easygoing and low-maintenance, but ensure that they are planted in reasonably fertile soil, with good drainage and a decent amount of sun.

Extras
This plant has been granted the RHS' prestigious Award of Garden Merit for brilliant all-round garden performance
