A spreading, low-growing perennial with masses of star-shaped, deep rose-pink flowers in summer, Sedum spurium ‘Spot On Deep Rose’ is a fantastic choice for ground cover, rockeries, green roofs, or edging sunny borders. Its fleshy, scalloped foliage forms dense mats that suppress weeds and offer interest from spring to autumn, with leaves often developing reddish tones as the season cools.

Sedum spurium ‘Spot On Deep Rose’, commonly known as Two-Row Stonecrop, is a hardy, drought-tolerant sedum that provides long-lasting colour, pollinator support, and tidy structure in dry, sunny gardens.

Perennial

Mat-forming, Evergreen or semi-evergreen, Drought tolerant

Flowers: July – September

Foliage: March – November (may persist year-round in mild winters)

Scientific Name
Sedum spurium ‘Spot On Deep Rose’ (from Latin sedere = to sit, referencing the plant’s low, spreading habit)

Common Name
Stonecrop, Two-Row Stonecrop, Caucasian Stonecrop

Origin
Species native to the Caucasus and northern Iran; this cultivar selected for intense flower colour and compact growth

Pruning Tips
Minimal pruning needed – remove spent flower heads and any untidy foliage in late autumn or early spring

Wildlife Value
Highly attractive to bees, hoverflies, and other pollinators during flowering

Positioning
Full sun in a well-drained location – perfect for gravel gardens, walls, steps, and containers

Water
Water during establishment, then only in prolonged dry spells – prefers dry conditions once mature

Soil
Well-drained, sandy or gritty soil; tolerates poor soils but dislikes wet conditions, especially in winter

Food
No feeding required – thrives in low-nutrient soil

Pet-safe
Generally considered non-toxic to pets

Sprouts Top Tips
Avoid overwatering or enriching the soil – lean conditions help keep it compact and floriferous. Great for hot, dry spots where little else thrives.
