Occasionally, you may find reused bubble wrap – this has been donated to us, and we encourage you to reuse it too.

Orders are usually packed and dispatched within 2–4 working days. We may occasionally delay dispatch during periods of extreme weather to protect your plants. We always prioritise plant health over speed of delivery.

Delivery is £4.99 for any number of items, or free on orders over £60. We deliver across the UK only.

We also offer local, bike-powered delivery in Bristol for £4.99 via Pedal Collective, a gentler option for plants and the planet.

We believe in paying people fairly, that’s why we’ve been a Real Living Wage Employer from the very beginning. We’re an independent Bristol business, packing every order ourselves.

A wonderfully architectural palm with a naturally bushy, multi-stemmed form, Chamaerops humilis brings a relaxed Mediterranean feel to any space. Its fan-shaped, silvery green leaves create texture and movement, making it a brilliant choice for bright indoor spots or sheltered outdoor areas in warmer months. Tougher than many palms, it’s also one of the most cold-tolerant, making it a great option for UK homes.

Scientific Name
Chamaerops humilis (low-growing shrub palm)

Common Name
European Fan Palm, Mediterranean Fan Palm

Origin
Native to the western Mediterranean region, including southern Europe and North Africa

Light
Prefers bright light and can tolerate some direct sun. A sunny window is ideal indoors. It can adapt to slightly lower light, but growth may slow and become less compact

Water
Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly, then let excess drain away. Reduce watering in winter when growth slows

Humidity
Tolerates average household humidity well. No need for regular misting, though it will appreciate occasional fresh air and airflow

Soil
Use a well-draining mix, such as a houseplant compost with added grit or sand to improve drainage

Food
Feed once a month during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser. Reduce feeding in autumn and winter

Temperature
Prefers temperatures between 10–30°C. Can tolerate cooler conditions than most indoor palms but should be protected from frost if kept outside

Pet-safe
Generally considered non-toxic, but best kept out of reach of pets and children

Sprouts Top Tips
If leaf tips start to brown, it’s often due to inconsistent watering rather than humidity – aim to keep your watering routine steady for best results.
