Origin
The species Tradescantia fluminensis is native to Brazil and other parts of South America. This cultivar has been selected for its enhanced pink-toned variegation.
Light
Bright, indirect light will keep the pink tones strong and vibrant. It can tolerate medium light, but variegation may fade and growth may become leggy. Avoid harsh direct midday sun, which can scorch the delicate leaves.
Water
Allow the top 2–3cm of soil to dry out between waterings. During spring and summer, this may mean watering once a week depending on light and temperature. In autumn and winter, reduce frequency and allow the soil to dry slightly more between waters. Avoid letting the plant sit in water, as it dislikes soggy roots.
Humidity
Average household humidity is usually sufficient. It will appreciate slightly higher humidity, especially in centrally heated homes during winter. A pebble tray or grouping with other plants can help, but it is generally forgiving.
Soil
Use a free-draining houseplant compost with added perlite or grit to improve airflow around the roots. Repot in spring when roots begin to fill the pot.
Food
Feed every 2–4 waters during the growing season with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser. Pause feeding in winter when growth slows.
Temperature
Prefers temperatures between 16–24°C. Avoid cold draughts and temperatures below 10°C.

Not considered pet-safe. Sap may cause mild irritation if ingested or handled by sensitive pets.

Pinch back stems regularly to encourage bushier growth and prevent legginess – cuttings root very easily in water, so you can pop them straight back into the pot to create a fuller plant.
Extras
This plant roots readily at the nodes, which allows it to spread quickly in the wild. In some regions outside its native habitat, it is considered invasive due to its vigorous growth.
