This daffodil's classic bright yellow and orange colouring is distinguished slightly by the slightly reflexed growth of its outer petals as if blown in the wind. Hardy throughout the UK down to -20°C.
If you're looking for a traditional daffodil colour with a slight twist, this is the perfect cultivar for you. The bright yellow petals that surround the vibrant orange central trumpet of this daffodil are slightly tilted backwards, as though the flower is standing up against the wind - perhaps of a jet engine... Tolerant of a variety of conditions, just make sure your daffodil gets some direct sun and doesn't rot in summer and it should return year on year with its cheerful spring colour.

Scientific Name
Narcissus cyclamineus ‘Jetfire’ (Cyclamen-like daffodil , cultivar: Jetfire)
Common Name
Jet Fire Narcissus, Jetfire Daffodil, Cyclamineus daffodil
Origin
Native to Northwest Spain and Portugal
Pruning Tips
Deadhead as flowers fade; don't prune the foliage, let the leaves die down naturally to keep your bulbs healthy.
Wildlife Value
Attractive to pollinators like bees, this daffodil is otherwise not especially beneficial to wildlife
Positioning
Prefers well-drained soil and a sunny location, although it can tolerate partial shade. It’s happy in exposed and sheltered spots and perfect for planting in containers, borders, or rock gardens.
Water
Make sure the soil is moist while the plant is growing; you should not need to water outdoors in the UK unless it's under a roof or unseasonably dry. The bulb is fine to be a bit drier over summer after it's done blooming.
Soil
Prefers well-draining, slightly acidic to neutral soil. Avoid overly rich soil, as this can lead to weak growth.
Food
Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser at the start of the growing season to support strong blooms.
Pet-safe
No, Narcissi are toxic to pets if ingested, so it’s best to plant in areas that are out of reach of animals.
Sprouts Top Tips
Plant in groups for a bold display of vibrant spring colour. Narcissus ‘Jetfire’ is ideal for small containers or as a border edging. Allow foliage to die back naturally to ensure the bulbs are replenished for next year’s growth.
Extras
This plant has been given the RHS' prestigious Award of Garden Merit for its stellar all-round performance in the garden.
