Sorbaria sorbifolia 'Sem' - False Spirea

This compact deciduous shrub is grown primarily for its spectacular foliage, which emerges in vivid shades of copper, pink, orange, and yellow before maturing to fresh green. In summer, airy plumes of creamy white flowers rise above the foliage, attracting a range of pollinating insects. Hardy and easy to grow, Sorbaria sorbifolia ‘Sem’ provides colour and structure from spring through autumn and is an excellent choice for borders, wildlife gardens, and larger containers.

Sorbaria sorbifolia ‘Sem’, commonly known as False Spirea, combines the fern-like elegance of a spirea with the toughness of a hardy shrub. Origin
The species Sorbaria sorbifolia is native to eastern Europe, Siberia, Russia, Mongolia, northern China, Korea, and Japan. ‘Sem’ is a compact cultivated selection developed for garden use.

Pruning Tips
Remove any dead, damaged, or crossing stems in late winter or early spring. Older stems can be thinned out every few years to maintain a tidy shape and encourage vigorous new growth. Remove any unwanted suckers as they appear.

Wildlife Value

Positioning
