🌿 Our 7-day Plant Promise

Buying plants online can feel risky – that’s why every order comes with our 7-day Plant Promise.

If anything goes wrong in transit, just get in touch and we’ll help put it right.

Find out more here

Every plant is carefully packed by our small, plant-loving Bristol team using protective, mostly plastic-free packaging.

Occasionally, you may find reused bubble wrap – this has been donated to us, and we encourage you to reuse it too.

Orders are usually packed and dispatched within 2–4 working days. We may occasionally delay dispatch during periods of extreme weather to protect your plants. We always prioritise plant health over speed of delivery.

Delivery is £4.99 for any number of items, or free on orders over £60. We deliver across the UK only.

We also offer local, bike-powered delivery in Bristol for £4.99 via Pedal Collective, a gentler option for plants and the planet.

We believe in paying people fairly, that’s why we’ve been a Real Living Wage Employer from the very beginning. We’re an independent Bristol business, packing every order ourselves.

Supporting us means supporting fair work.

Playful yet elegant, Begonia maculata ‘Bubbles’ is a striking cane begonia admired for its distinctive, rounded white spots scattered across deep green, angel-wing shaped leaves. This cultivated selection of Begonia maculata takes its name from the bold, bubble-like markings that give it a lively, high-contrast look while retaining the graceful, upright growth the species is known for. With steady care, it will grow into a tall, characterful statement plant that brings texture and movement to bright interiors.

Scientific Name
Begonia maculata ‘Bubbles’ (spotted begonia)

Begonia maculata was first described in the 19th century and is native to Brazil. Numerous cultivated selections exist, with ‘Bubbles’ chosen for its rounded, evenly distributed white spotting and fuller appearance.

Synonyms
Sometimes sold under trade names such as polka dot begonia or grouped with other maculata-type cane begonias.

Common Name
Polka Dot Begonia, Angel Wing Begonia

Origin
Derived from species native to southeastern Brazil.

Light
Prefers bright, indirect light. Good light helps maintain strong growth and crisp leaf markings. Avoid harsh, direct sun, which can scorch the leaves and cause fading.

Water
Water when the top few centimetres of compost feel dry. Keep the soil lightly moist but never waterlogged. Reduce watering in winter as growth slows, allowing the compost to dry slightly more between waterings.

Humidity
Enjoys moderate to higher humidity. Avoid misting the leaves directly; instead, use a pebble tray, group plants together, or place in a naturally humid but bright room.

Soil
Use a free-draining, peat-free houseplant compost with added grit or perlite. Good drainage is essential to keep the roots healthy and prevent rot.

Food
Feed every 2–3 waters during the growing season (spring through early autumn) with a balanced liquid houseplant feed. Stop feeding over winter.

Temperature
Best kept between 18–24°C. Protect from cold draughts and avoid temperatures below 13°C.

Pet-safe
Toxic if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets and children.

Sprouts Top Tips
Rotate your Begonia maculata ‘Bubbles’ regularly to keep growth even — it naturally leans towards the light and will reward gentle turning with a balanced, upright shape.
