Bringing Locally Grown Plants and Flowers Together for Our Big Day

On 1st September 2023, we, Jessy and Tom—owners of Sprouts of Bristol—had the joy of celebrating our wedding at The Mount Without, surrounded by our family and friends. It was a day filled with personal touches, love, and, of course, plenty of plants! The stunning photos were captured by the talented Chloe Mary, and we were lucky to have so many amazing local suppliers involved, from Bianchi’s catering to Heart of BS13 for our flowers, and 404 Bakes for our incredible wedding cake.

🌿 Wedding Plant Hire in Bristol & Beyond

For our wedding, we wanted to showcase the best of what the region has to offer, so we chose locally grown plants and flowers to dress the venue. We used herbs from a nursery just outside of Bristol, which we placed in terracotta pots throughout the main hall of The Mount Without. These herbs, like rosemary and thyme, added a wonderful fragrance to the space, and we used them alongside locally grown flowers from Heart of BS13, a social enterprise in Bristol. I went to Heart of BS13 the day before the wedding, cut the flowers, and, with the help of my bridesmaids, mum, and the wonderful florist Clem, created the bouquets and table arrangements.

Our Brief, Our Vision

🌿 Wedding Theme: Summer vibes with an Italian, whimsical, and fun touch

📍 Venue: The Mount Without, Bristol

📅 Date: 1st September 2023

🎨 Colour Palette: Bright, warm colours like orange, pinks, yellows, complemented with lots of lush green.

For our wedding day, we wanted a lighthearted and vibrant celebration, filled with bright colours, fun floral touches, and plenty of personal elements. Locally grown herbs and flowers filled the venue, with hand-painted signs and giant paper flowers added to the altar. Brightly coloured confetti—hand-dried by my mum—created a joyful atmosphere as we walked down the aisle. The handwritten name places and menus tied in with our colourful theme and were created with love by my good friends and me.

Creating the Perfect Atmosphere, Brimming with Botanics

We wanted to make the most of the natural beauty in our surroundings, so we chose a mix of plants and flowers that would create a relaxed yet vibrant garden-inspired vibe.

Styling Potted Herbs

The table arrangements in the main hall were a mixture of locally grown herbs, such as rosemary and thyme, which were placed in terracotta pots on the tables. These herbs not only looked beautiful but added a natural scent to the room that tied in perfectly with the whole atmosphere of the day. We mixed the herbs with wildflowers and a splash of colour from Heart of BS13’s blooms, creating a rustic, natural look that reflected our love for the outdoors.

Tropical Paradise in the Crypts

Downstairs in the crypts, we wanted to create a different atmosphere—one of lush greenery and tropical vibes. We filled the space with ferns and tropical foliage, transforming the area into a relaxed paradise where guests could unwind. The contrast of the greenery against the stone walls of the crypt gave the space a unique charm, making it feel like a hidden oasis.
