On August 12, 2023, Becca and Matt tied the knot in the stunning, rustic setting of The Holford Arms, a barn venue nestled in the heart of Tetbury, Gloucestershire. Their wedding was infused with the charm of a cottage garden theme and highlighted by the striking accents of purple tartan, inspired by the Ironside tartan.
Sprouts of Bristol was thrilled to help bring Becca and Matt’s vision to life through our DIY wedding plant hire service, providing a curated selection of plants that truly reflected their style and love for greenery.
At Sprouts of Bristol, we believe that plants bring an extra layer of warmth and beauty to any wedding. Our DIY wedding plant hire service allows couples to add their personal touch with the perfect plants for their big day. For Becca and Matt’s rustic barn wedding, we provided a mixture of ferns, herbs, and flowers in terracotta pots, filling the aisles and tables with vibrant greenery that perfectly complemented their gorgeous venue.
All the plants we supplied were British-grown and seasonal, hand-picked from a grower’s nursery just outside of Bristol the day before the wedding weekend. We worked closely with the couple to offer advice on layout, but they arranged and styled the plants themselves, making their wedding a more personal and hands-on experience.
🌿 Wedding Theme: Cottage garden with purple tartan accents
📍 Venue: The Holford Arms, Tetbury, Gloucestershire
📅 Date: 12th August 2023
🎨 Colour Palette: Purple, blue, white, and cool pink with terracotta accents
When Becca and Matt got in touch with us, they already had a clear vision for their wedding. They wanted to create a cottage garden look with a mix of ferns and herbs, paired with soft pops of purple, blue, and white flowers. We provided the perfect mix of plants, from aromatic herbs for the tables to lush ferns for the aisles, all housed in terracotta pots. The purple tartan accents in the fabric and outfits added an extra personal touch to the overall aesthetic.
For Becca and Matt’s DIY wedding, we provided a selection of plants that would perfectly suit their rustic venue and garden-inspired theme.
🌿 Ferns and Herbs for the Aisles
To line the aisle, we chose a collection of ferns, rosemary, and other herbs to give off a fresh, earthy scent, adding to the rustic garden vibe. There were plenty of plants needed, and we sent enough to fill all ten rows of seating. We included mixed ferns, sage, thyme, basil, and mint varieties such as ginger mint, pineapple mint, and apple mint to ensure a rich variety of textures and fragrances.
🌿 Flowers in Purple, Blue, White, and Cool Pink
For a pop of colour, we included a mix of flowers in shades of purple, blue, white, and cool pink, which complemented the purple tartan accents of the décor. The vibrant blooms included Blue Geranium, Purple Salvia, Deep Pink Dahlia, Dusty Brown Rudbeckia and White Anemone, which brightened up the tables and added a soft contrast to the green foliage.
🌿 Terracotta Pots for a Natural Look
All the plants were displayed in terracotta pots, which gave them a natural, earthy look, matching perfectly with the rustic and vintage vibe of The Holford Arms. These pots housed a variety of plants including Pink Lavender, Pink Verbena, Deep Purple Verbena, and Purple Allium.
Becca and Matt’s wedding was a true reflection of their love for nature and greenery. From the ceremony to the reception, the venue was filled with lush, vibrant plants that brought their rustic garden theme to life.
🌿 Aisle Styling: The aisle was lined with potted plants, including ferns, herbs, and flowers, creating a natural path to the altar. The plants were arranged in a way that provided a beautiful frame for the ceremony, enhancing the romantic and rustic atmosphere.
🌿 Table Styling: The herbs were placed on the reception tables in terracotta pots, adding a simple yet stunning element to the décor. The mix of greenery and flowers created a rustic, cottage garden look, with just the right amount of colour.
