Spines, Lumps and thicc stems - just some of the beloved characteristics of our arid beauties. You love the chunkier plants? Well, they’ll love this mix!

Using a blend of: Coco Coir, Horticultural Sand, Grit, Pumice, Zeolite, Worm Castings, Activated Charcoal

Soil Ninja developed this mix to meet all your succulent and cactus needs.
Components that work together are vital to a successful substrate and boy, do these guys like holding hands- the aggregate based blend makes sure no residue humidity sticks around for too long on the very sensitive and tender roots of xeric species. But in the event, you do over water a little or mistakenly water during their dormancy period- the added support of activated charcoal doesn’t just improve drainage but also fends off impurities and bad micro fauna and flora that will lead to rot. All xeric, arid species exist naturally with little access to nutrients the majority of the time, with this in mind, we added a small portion of worm castings to ensure the most natural and gentle presence of nutrients that their extremely delicate roots will not be offended by.

It's recommended to pot any of your common varieties of cacti and succulents in this mix but it’s also a fantastic candidate for other plants such as: Snake Plants, Jade Plant and Xeric bromeliads like Dyckia will thrive in this extremely well-draining blend as well as Begonia venosa!

Letter from the founder - September 2024 - Sprouts of Bristol
This month we have been busier than expected, which is obviously amazing. We have worked with some amazing businesses, including a very nice doughnut cafe thats opened on College Green that you need to check out. We have welcomed Jazz to the team, she's already settling in amazingly. And we look forward to the end of the year for that ever so special quarter that is very very important to retailers like us up and down the country.

Letter from the founder - August 2024 - Sprouts of Bristol
We have launched our first (hopefully monthly) ‘Letter from the Founder’ blog post. I talk about a string of bad luck, from water gushing from various ceilings in my life to a break-in, and also reflect on the incredible work we have done to win two awards earlier this year. I look ahead to what’s coming up in August, projects we are working on with our clients, and some thoughts about the rest of the year. And I give an insight into my brain, why I am who I am and why I’m so thankful for all the opportunities, passion and excitement that running Sprouts has given me as a founder and as a woman.
