Pruning Tips Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering; pinching growing tips will help keep it compact.
Wildlife Value These pollen-rich flowers attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators throughout their flowering months.
Positioning Your Marguerite will love a sheltered position in full sun Water Allow the soil to dry out between waters; your tree will not appreciate soggy roots!
Soil Use a well-draining soil This plant grows well in containers, but can grow directly in the ground too as long as your soil drains well
Food These plants like their soil to be moderately fertile, so ensure you fertilise a few times through the growing season when in a container or mulch annually in the ground. A fertiliser with high potassium content will help encourage flowers!
Pet-safe No, this plant can be harmful to dogs and other pets so make sure your furry friends keep their paws off.
Sprouts Top Tips While this plant can grow either in a container or in the ground, the key is to make sure the soil around it can drain in either case. Grit in the bottom of a container can help add extra drainage, and adding sand to your compost or potting mix can also promote fast drainage. Keep an eye on its roots in winter to ensure they don't get waterlogged. Make sure it gets direct sun as well which will help it dry out quick enough and grow as it is accustomed to in its subtropical home.
We have launched our first (hopefully monthly) ‘Letter from the Founder’ blog post. I talk about a string of bad luck, from water gushing from various ceilings in my life to a break-in, and also reflect on the incredible work we have done to win two awards earlier this year. I look ahead to what’s coming up in August, projects we are working on with our clients, and some thoughts about the rest of the year. And I give an insight into my brain, why I am who I am and why I’m so thankful for all the opportunities, passion and excitement that running Sprouts has given me as a founder and as a woman.
