Aglaonema ‘Pink’ is a beautiful tropical houseplant admired for its colourful foliage and wonderfully easy-going nature. Its broad, glossy leaves feature gorgeous shades of pink and green, creating an eye-catching display that brings a splash of colour to any indoor space. With its naturally bushy growth habit and striking leaf patterns, this colourful Chinese Evergreen is perfect for brightening up shelves, side tables and houseplant collections.

Scientific Name
Aglaonema ‘Pink’ (horticultural trade name)

Common Name(s)
Pink Chinese Evergreen, Chinese Evergreen, Pink Aglaonema

Origin
A cultivated ornamental Aglaonema, developed from tropical species native to Southeast Asia and surrounding regions. Aglaonemas naturally grow beneath the forest canopy in warm, humid environments.

Light
Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its beautiful pink colouring. It can tolerate moderate light levels, although growth may slow and the foliage may become greener in lower-light conditions. Avoid prolonged strong direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Water
Allow the top few centimetres of compost to dry between waterings, then water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain away. Aglaonemas prefer slightly moist soil during active growth but dislike sitting in waterlogged compost. Reduce watering during autumn and winter.

Humidity
Prefers moderate to high humidity, ideally around 50–70%, but generally adapts well to average household conditions. Keep away from radiators and cold draughts, which can cause brown leaf edges.

Soil
Use a well-draining, peat-free houseplant mix with added perlite and fine orchid bark. The compost should retain a little moisture while allowing plenty of airflow around the roots.

Food
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser diluted to half strength. Reduce or stop feeding during autumn and winter when growth slows.

Temperature
Prefers warm temperatures between 18–27°C. Protect from cold draughts, sudden temperature changes and prolonged temperatures below 15°C.

Pet-safe
No. Aglaonemas contain insoluble calcium oxalate crystals that can cause irritation to the mouth and digestive system if ingested. Keep out of reach of cats, dogs and children.

Sprouts Top Tips
Give your Pink Aglaonema plenty of bright, indirect light to encourage its beautiful foliage colouring. Too little light may cause the pink markings to become less pronounced.

Avoid overwatering and allow the upper layer of compost to dry before watering again. Gently wipe the leaves with a damp cloth occasionally to remove dust and keep their glossy appearance.

Extras
Pink Aglaonemas develop a naturally compact, bushy growth habit, producing new leaves from the centre of the plant as they mature. Their colourful foliage makes them particularly attractive when displayed alongside darker green houseplants.

Mature plants may occasionally produce small, pale flowers consisting of a spadix surrounded by a spathe, similar to those found on Peace Lilies. These are relatively inconspicuous compared with the colourful foliage.

Did You Know?
Aglaonemas have been cultivated as ornamental houseplants for generations, but modern breeding has introduced an incredible range of colourful varieties featuring shades of pink, red, silver, cream and green.

The name Aglaonema comes from Greek words meaning ‘bright’ and ‘thread’, a reference to the plant’s floral structures.
