At Sprouts of Bristol, we love bringing wedding visions to life with lush, living plants. Whether it’s an aisle lined with lush ferns or tables adorned with potted herbs, filling the air with their natural fragrance, our plant hire service adds an effortlessly beautiful and sustainable touch to your big day.

When Verity and James reached out with their idea for an autumn-inspired wedding filled with lush greenery, we couldn’t wait to be part of it. Their vision came to life with a nature-inspired setting, featuring a forest green and burnt orange colour palette that blended perfectly with the rustic charm of their venue. The ceremony aisle was framed by potted ferns and wild grasses, leading to a wooden signing table, while twinkling fairy lights and handmade bunting added warmth to the historic barn.

At the reception, round tables dressed in white linens were decorated with greenery in terracotta pots, bringing an organic, natural aesthetic. A welcome table with a wicker card box, potted plants, and an order of the day set the tone for a relaxed and intimate celebration. The couple’s love for nature was reflected in biodegradable confetti and dried flower bouquets, which, paired with our plants, created a wedding that was as beautiful as it was eco-friendly.

A truly magical day filled with greenery, warmth, and love. 🌿✨

Verity & James’ Wedding Vision

Wedding Theme: A warm and rustic autumnal celebration with rich seasonal tones

Colour Palette: Deep forest greens, warm terracottas, and burnt orange accents

With their bridesmaids dressed in dark green velvet and bouquets featuring burnt orange tones, Verity and James imagined a day that embraced the beauty of the season. They wanted a cosy, natural aesthetic that would blend seamlessly with their stunning barn venue. Having been inspired by our work from the very beginning of their planning journey, they were excited to bring in plants to enhance the space.

Choosing the Right Plants for the Theme

To complement the warm, rustic feel of the wedding barn and the rich autumnal colour palette, we curated a selection of potted plants in terracotta pots to add depth and texture to the décor. We brought the couple’s vision to life with a nature-inspired setup, using forest green and burnt orange as the foundation of their colour palette. These rich, earthy tones were reflected throughout the décor, from the lush potted greenery on the tables to the warm terracotta pots housing ferns, grasses, and delicate seasonal flowers.

The plants we used included: Boston ferns (Nephrolepis exaltata), Blue Star ferns (Phlebodium aureum), White Cyclamen (Cyclamen persicum), Crocosmia, Photinia, a variety of ornamental grasses and smaller ferns, Mexican Flea Bane (Erigeron karvinskianus), and more. These plants provided a harmonious blend of textures, tones, and movement, complementing the natural barn setting beautifully.

To transform the ceremony space into a botanical haven, we lined the aisle with potted ferns and wild grasses, leading to the rustic wooden signing table adorned with natural foliage. Twinkling fairy lights and handmade bunting in the wedding’s signature colours added a charming touch to the historic barn setting.

At the reception, the round tables dressed in crisp white linens featured elegant place settings. We added centrepieces of greenery featuring lush ferns in terracotta pots, seamlessly blending into the rustic surroundings. A beautifully styled welcome table greeted guests with a wicker card box, potted plants, and a handwritten timeline of the day’s events.

The couple’s personality shone through in every detail, from the biodegradable confetti that showered them as they walked out as newlyweds to the warm, nature-inspired atmosphere that made their wedding both stunning and sustainable. A truly magical day filled with greenery, warmth, and love. 🌿✨

Aisle Styling: Aisles were lined with a mix of lush green foliage, ready to be restyled as stunning table centrepieces after the ceremony.

Table Arrangements: Each of the tables featured clusters of potted greenery in the centre, adding an organic touch to the rustic setting. The top table was surrounded by plants, giving the couple a natural-feeling display of plants.

Terracotta Planters: A budget-friendly and stylish choice, these earthy pots tied everything together beautifully.

Verity and James wanted a sustainable approach to their wedding styling, so opting for living plants instead of cut flowers meant less waste and a lasting impact. Their guests loved how unique and eco-friendly the décor was!

The Setup & Bringing the Vision to Life

Bringing Verity and James’ wedding vision to life was a smooth and joyful process! In the early hours of the morning of the wedding, we packed the van with an abundance of greenery, carefully selected to enhance the venue’s natural charm.

Arriving at The Great Tythe Barn, we set up the plants along the aisle, ensuring the perfect blend of natural elegance and seasonal warmth. After the wedding ceremony, the plants were repurposed onto the tables, seamlessly transitioning from ceremony décor to stunning reception centrepieces.

Challenges We Overcame:

  • Creating a high-impact aisle display that could be easily relocated to tables for a seamless transition.

  • Finding budget-conscious solutions that still delivered a beautifully styled wedding result.

  • Packing and transporting everything efficiently for a smooth setup and collection.

The result? A warm, inviting wedding venue filled with rich autumnal tones, lush greenery, and a cosy, intimate atmosphere.
