Description Known for it's curly foliage, the frizzle sizzle is an unusual plant. Hailing from South Africa, this plant grows from a small bulb, and in some ways has similar care to a cacti or succulent, except it dies back in the summer as a defence mechanism against extreme heat in it's natural habitat. Hold back on watering over late summer when it dies back, and you should get lots of sizzle-y leaves in spring/early summer. The plant should get a large flower spike in late spring, and whilst the foliage will die back when this happens the flower smells of vanilla! Light Needs lots of bright light! This plant will love your sunniest window; if in doubt, choose a South- or West-facing window ledge. Water Adapted to the driest parts of the South Africa, this plant likes its soil to totally dry out between waters. Make sure not to water too frequently; this plant prefers drought to flood. If the plant dies back, hold off watering.
Humidity Average household humidity is fine
Soil Use a coarse, well-draining soil and repot every couple of years as it grows.
Food Shouldn't need much feeding, but a mild feed in early spring would be appreciated
Pet-safe No, this plant is toxic to pets and small humans.
Had to grab this one as the pastel green was so pretty. There is a water resivour at the bottom to stop plants sitting in water so its perfect for orchids but at the moment I'm using it for another plant.
