Every plant is carefully packed by our small, plant-loving Bristol team using protective, mostly plastic-free packaging.
Occasionally, you may find reused bubble wrap – this has been donated to us, and we encourage you to reuse it too.
Orders are usually packed and dispatched within 2–4 working days. We may occasionally delay dispatch during periods of extreme weather to protect your plants. We always prioritise plant health over speed of delivery.
Delivery is £4.99 for any number of items, or free on orders over £60. We deliver across the UK only.
We also offer local, bike-powered delivery in Bristol for £4.99 via Pedal Collective, a gentler option for plants and the planet.
We believe in paying people fairly, that’s why we’ve been a Real Living Wage Employer from the very beginning. We’re an independent Bristol business, packing every order ourselves.
Supporting us means supporting fair work.

Bring a splash of African style to your interiors with our range of neon pink and turquoise striped baskets. These colourful baskets are hand woven in three different sizes by a small Kenyan weaving cooperative, and make handy storage baskets for all over the home. Whichever way you choose to use your NDOTO storage baskets they are sure to bring a splash of style to any corner of the home: think fruit baskets and desk tidies, large planters and laundry baskets. Need more inspiration? Check out our basket uses page HERE.
The craftswomen in this growing cooperative are extremely skilled at weaving our repeat designs, using their tape measures to produce the three set sizes we offer. Sisal grass is purchased ready-rolled when orders come in, and is hand-dyed in large vats before a traditional twining method is used to produce each basket. Where once these women used to have to travel to Nairobi to sell their woven baskets, today The Basket Room places regular and fairly-paid orders with this most adept group, and completed baskets are stored in purpose-built mud huts.
Every striped basket comes with a thank you card from the weaving cooperative, and you can find out more about the wonderful weavers right HERE. Weaving takes place primarily during the dry seasons, since most weavers are subsistence farmers using basket weaving as a supplementary means of income. To buy one of our woven baskets is to support our commitment to empowering women through fair trade.
