Every plant is carefully packed by our small, plant-loving Bristol team using protective, mostly plastic-free packaging.
Occasionally, you may find reused bubble wrap – this has been donated to us, and we encourage you to reuse it too.
Orders are usually packed and dispatched within 2–4 working days. We may occasionally delay dispatch during periods of extreme weather to protect your plants. We always prioritise plant health over speed of delivery.
Delivery is £4.99 for any number of items, or free on orders over £60. We deliver across the UK only.
We also offer local, bike-powered delivery in Bristol for £4.99 via Pedal Collective, a gentler option for plants and the planet.
We believe in paying people fairly, that’s why we’ve been a Real Living Wage Employer from the very beginning. We’re an independent Bristol business, packing every order ourselves.
Supporting us means supporting fair work.

Introduce some Kenyan charm and texture to your interiors with our SIFA baskets, sporting bold, orange stripes on a creamy white base. Hand woven from local sisal grass by a skilled craftswoman working within a small cooperative in rural Kenya, these striped baskets come in three different sizes for use all over the home. They fabulous storage for jewellery, gloves and slippers, pens and pencils and craft materials - and can be used as both small and large planters for your house plants. Need more inspo? Check out our basket uses page HERE.
The craftswomen behind these SIFA woven baskets learned the age-old art of weaving from their mothers and grandmothers, and they work within a small, rural weaving cooperative. Once upon a time these weavers would travel regularly to Nairobi to sell their woven baskets, but The Basket Room now provides them with regular work. Completed baskets are then stored in purpose-built mud huts before being shipped to us. As demand increases, the cooperative continues to thrive and grow under the guidance of its charismatic Chairlady, Madam Dorcas Ndinda.
Each colourful woven basket comes with a thank you card from the weaving cooperative, and you can meet these weavers right HERE. Basket production takes place primarily during the dry seasons, since most weavers are from farming communities who rely on subsistence farming and rainfall to sustain their families. To buy one of our woven baskets is to become a patron in our commitment to empowering women through fair trade.
