Caladium ‘White Wonder’ produces elongated strap-shaped leaves with a crisp white centre and contrasting deep green margins. Elegant and architectural, this variety is ideal for brightening darker corners indoors or adding a refined look to outdoor pots in summer.

Scientific Name
Caladium bicolor ‘White Wonder’ (two-coloured keladi plant, cultivar: White Wonder)

Reclassification or Naming History
Cultivars like ‘White Wonder’ were once grouped separately but are now classified under Caladium bicolor.

Common Name(s)
Elephant Ear, Angel Wings, White Caladium, Strap-Leaf Caladium

Origin
Cultivated variety derived from species native to the Amazon Basin in South America.

Light
Prefers bright, indirect light indoors. Some morning or evening sun in autumn and winter is fine, but avoid strong summer sun which may scorch the white leaves. Outdoors, plant in a shaded spot.

Water
Keep evenly moist during active growth. Water when the top third of soil has dried, reducing frequency as growth slows in cooler months.

Humidity
Thrives in higher humidity. Mist regularly or use a pebble tray to maintain fresh, blemish-free leaves.

Soil
Rich, organic, moisture-retentive but free-draining soil. Repot every 2–3 years in spring.

Food
Feed every 4 waters during the growing season, reducing to every 6 in autumn and winter.

Temperature
Best at 18–30°C; growth slows below 15°C. Protect from temperatures under 10°C.

Pet-safe
No – toxic to pets and humans if ingested.

Sprouts Top Tips
‘White Wonder’ stands out beautifully against darker foliage plants. Expect natural die-back in autumn – store tubers and replant in spring for fresh white growth.
