Small in stature but big on charm, Peperomia orba ‘Wonderwing’ is a cheerful, compact houseplant with glossy green leaves and a soft golden sheen around each edge. Its neat, mounded growth habit and dainty, spoon-shaped foliage have earned it the nickname Pixie Peperomia – a perfect choice for desks, shelves, or grouped with other small indoor plants. Easy to care for and full of gentle character, this variety is ideal for adding greenery to bright but compact spaces.

Scientific Name
Peperomia orba ‘Wonderwing’ (Peperomia = from Greek “pepper-like”; orba = cultivated species of uncertain wild origin; ‘Wonderwing’ = cultivar selected for its glowing leaf margins)

Synonyms
Pixie Peperomia, Golden Glow Peperomia, Peperomia ‘Wonderwing’

Common Name
Pixie Peperomia, Peperomia ‘Wonderwing’

Origin
The Peperomia genus is native to tropical Central and South America. Peperomia orba is thought to be a cultivated hybrid or selection, not found in the wild.

Light
Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the glossy leaves. Tolerates medium light well, making it suitable for desks, shelves, and indoor plant groupings.

Water
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Like many Peperomias, it stores moisture in its leaves and prefers to dry out slightly between waterings. Avoid soggy soil or letting it sit in water.

Humidity
Enjoys average household humidity. Will benefit from a little extra moisture in the air during winter or in particularly dry rooms, but does not require misting.

Soil
Use a well-draining indoor potting mix, ideally with added perlite or pumice for airflow around the roots. Avoid dense or overly moisture-retentive soils.

Food
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted, balanced liquid fertiliser. Pause feeding in autumn and winter.

Temperature
Best kept between 16–24°C. Protect from cold draughts and avoid placing near radiators or heating vents.

Pet-safe
Yes – Peperomia species are non-toxic to pets and humans.
