This vibrant perennial produces clusters of glowing orange flowers that bring warmth and colour to borders for months on end. Erysimum ‘Leya Orange Glow’ is part of the modern wallflower cultivars bred for long flowering periods and strong garden performance. Its rich orange blooms contrast beautifully with the narrow grey-green foliage, making it a striking addition to sunny borders, wildlife gardens, and containers.

Erysimum ‘Leya Orange Glow’, commonly known as Wallflower, is loved for its exceptionally long flowering season and pollinator-friendly blooms. Flowering from spring well into summer, it provides a reliable source of nectar for bees and butterflies while adding bold colour to garden beds and patio displays.

Evergreen to Semi-Evergreen, Long-Flowering, Pollinator-Friendly

Flower: Spring through summer

Foliage: Evergreen to semi-evergreen

Erysimum ‘Leya Orange Glow’ (the genus name Erysimum comes from the Greek eryo, meaning “to help or save”, reflecting historical medicinal uses of wallflowers)

Common Name
Wallflower

Origin
Cultivar developed from species native to southern Europe and the Mediterranean region.

Pruning Tips
Lightly trim after flowering to encourage fresh growth and maintain a compact shape. Cutting back by around one-third can help promote a second flush of flowers.

Wildlife Value
An excellent nectar plant for bees, butterflies, and other pollinating insects.

Positioning
Prefers a sunny position and works beautifully in cottage garden borders, gravel gardens, wildlife-friendly planting, or containers.

Water
Water regularly while establishing. Once mature, plants tolerate short dry periods but perform best in moderately moist, well-drained soil.

Soil
Thrives in well-drained soil and is particularly well suited to sandy, gravelly, or free-draining garden beds.

Food
Apply a balanced fertiliser in spring to support strong flowering throughout the season.

Pet-safe
Not considered safe for pets if ingested.

Sprouts Top Tips
Wallflowers benefit from replacing every few years as older plants can become woody. Taking cuttings in summer is a great way to keep fresh plants going in the garden.
