This beautifully patterned trailing petunia produces soft lavender-pink flowers marked with deep purple veining, creating an eye-catching display throughout summer. Petunia ‘Deep Lavender Vein’ is perfect for hanging baskets, patio pots, and window boxes, where its trailing stems spill naturally over the edges in a cloud of colour. Flowering continuously from late spring until the first frosts, it brings a softer, romantic feel to summer planting while still delivering impressive impact.

Petunia ‘Deep Lavender Vein’, commonly known as Trailing Petunia, is loved for its delicate veined blooms and vigorous flowering habit. The intricate darker veining gives each flower added texture and depth, pairing beautifully with whites, purples, and silver foliage in mixed displays. Easy to care for and long flowering, it’s a reliable choice for creating full, abundant baskets that keep looking fresh right through the season.

Tender Perennial
Trailing, Basket Plant, Long Flowering

Flowers: Late Spring to First Frosts
Foliage: Spring to Autumn

Scientific Name
Petunia ‘Deep Lavender Vein’

Common Name
Trailing Petunia

Origin
Cultivated hybrid developed from South American Petunia species

Pruning Tips
Trim back lightly during midsummer if plants become leggy or flowering slows. This helps encourage bushier growth and a fresh flush of blooms.

Wildlife Value
The nectar-rich flowers may attract bees and other pollinating insects throughout summer.

Positioning
Best grown in full sun in hanging baskets, patio containers, and window boxes. Prefers a warm, sheltered position for the best flowering performance.

Water
Water regularly during warm weather, particularly in baskets and containers that dry out quickly. Keep compost moist but avoid soggy conditions.

Soil
Thrives in fertile, free-draining compost rich in organic matter. A peat-free basket or container compost is ideal.

Food
Feed every 1–2 weeks with a high-potash liquid fertiliser to encourage continuous flowering through the season.

Pet-safe
Generally considered non-toxic to pets, although ingestion may still cause mild stomach upset.

Sprouts Top Tips
The delicate veining looks especially effective when planted alongside white flowers or trailing silver foliage for a softer, cottage garden-inspired summer display.
