Scientific Name
Tulipa ‘Seadov’ (tulip, variety: Seadov)

Common Name
Seadov Tulip, Red Tulip

Origin
A hybrid variety developed for its intense colour and striking flower base, bred from tulip species native to central Asia.

Pruning Tips
Remove spent flowers as they fade to prevent the plant from diverting energy into seed production. Allow the foliage to die back naturally to nourish the bulb for next year’s blooms.

Wildlife Value
While not a significant source of nectar, tulips can attract pollinators like bees during their flowering period.

Positioning
Thrives in full sun and prefers sheltered locations to protect blooms from strong winds. Ideal for borders, containers, or cutting gardens.

Water
Water moderately during the growing season, keeping the soil moist but not waterlogged. Avoid watering once the foliage begins to yellow.

Soil
Prefers well-draining, fertile soil. Avoid planting in areas prone to waterlogging, as this can cause bulb rot.

Food
Feed with a balanced fertiliser at planting time and again in early spring to support strong growth and vibrant blooms.

Pet-safe
Toxic if ingested, so plant away from areas accessible to pets.

Sprouts Top Tips
Plant Tulipa ‘Seadov’ in clusters of 10–15 bulbs for a dramatic effect. Pair with lighter-coloured tulips, such as whites or yellows, to create a striking contrast, or combine with deep purples for a luxurious, moody palette.
