Scientific Name
Sansevieria ‘Fernwood Punk’ (now classified as Dracaena angolensis hybrid ‘Fernwood Punk’)

Synonyms
Dracaena angolensis ‘Fernwood Punk’
Common Name
Fernwood Snake Plant, Punk Snake Plant
Origin
Cultivar derived from African Sansevieria species, originally native to dry regions of West and Central Africa
Light
Highly adaptable. Grows well in bright, indirect light but also tolerates lower light levels. Avoid prolonged harsh, direct sun which can scorch the leaves.
Water
Water sparingly. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering is the most common cause of problems, especially in winter when watering should be reduced further.
Humidity
Thrives in average household humidity and does not require misting. Avoid placing in persistently damp environments.
Soil
Use a free-draining compost, ideally a cactus or succulent mix. Good drainage is essential to prevent root rot. Repot every 2–3 years if required.
Food
Feed every 4–6 waters during spring and summer with a balanced or cactus fertiliser. Do not feed in winter.
Temperature
Prefers temperatures between 15–27°C. Avoid cold draughts and temperatures below 10°C.
Pet-safe
Toxic if ingested – keep out of reach of pets and children.
Sprouts Top Tips
When in doubt, don’t water – this plant is far more tolerant of dryness than excess moisture.
Extras
Its compact size and upright habit make ‘Fernwood Punk’ ideal for smaller spaces and busy plant parents.
