Soft, elegant, and full of charm, Peperomia ‘Vanilla’ is a beautifully variegated cultivar with rounded leaves in shades of creamy white, pale green, and soft mint. Its compact growth and trailing potential make it a lovely addition to shelves, desktops, or small hanging planters. A gentle and easy-care houseplant, it brings lightness and calm to any plant display – no fuss, just quiet beauty.

Scientific Name
Peperomia ‘Vanilla’
(Peperomia = from Greek “pepper-like”; ‘Vanilla’ = cultivated variety named for its pale, creamy variegation)

Common Name
Peperomia ‘Vanilla’, Variegated Radiator Plant

Origin
The Peperomia genus includes over 1,500 species native to Central and South America. ‘Vanilla’ is a nursery-developed variety with distinctive pale foliage.

Light
Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain strong variegation. Can tolerate medium light, but colours may fade. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the pale leaves.

Water
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Like most Peperomias, it stores moisture in its leaves and prefers to dry out slightly between waterings. Avoid overwatering or letting the pot sit in water.

Humidity
Tolerates average household humidity but will appreciate occasional misting or being grouped with other plants in dry rooms.

Soil
Use a light, well-draining indoor potting mix with added perlite or grit to promote airflow. Avoid heavy, moisture-retentive soil.

Food
Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a gentle, balanced liquid fertiliser. Pause feeding in autumn and winter.

Temperature
Thrives in temperatures between 18–24°C. Keep away from cold draughts and avoid exposure below 15°C.

Pet-safe
Yes – Peperomia species are non-toxic to pets and humans.

Sprouts Top Tips
Great for small spaces and softening shelves – ‘Vanilla’ looks especially lovely in pale ceramic pots. Pinch back lightly to maintain a fuller shape and encourage trailing growth.
