A gorgeous perennial golden-yellow miniature daffodil providing cheerful spring colour. Hardy through most of the UK down to -20°C.
One of the most popular varieties of dwarf daffodil, these blooms are a sure sign of spring with their bright golden-yellow flowers. If you have limited room, you can still fill your outdoor space with dancing daffodils! These flowers sit on stems only 15-30cm in height, and can grow two flowers from each stem. Happy in containers or planted into the ground, use this cheerful colour to brighten up your garden, windowboxes or balcony as soon as spring arrives. This variety has been given the RHS Award of Garden Merit, and is sure to bring delight to your garden as it flowers year after year.
| Perennial bulb | Flower: tufted growth | Can flower February - April |
Scientific Name
Narcissus cyclamineus 'Tete a Tete' (Cyclamen-like daffodil, cultivar: tête-à-tête)
Common Name(s)
Dwarf Daffodil, Tete a Tete Daffodil
Origin
This cultivar was first grown in Cornwall in 1949, but the species is native to Northwestern Spain and Portugal
Pruning Tips
Don't prune after flowering, as this period is important to help the plant replenish its food reserves. Deadheading faded flowers is fine though!
Wildlife Value
Can provide nectar and pollen for bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects.
Positioning
Dappled shade to full sun is best for these golden blooms
Water
Moist soil is ideal; make sure they are not sat somewhere boggy or in a puddle, and they shouldn't need watering unless there is a drought.
Soil
Can grow in multiple types of soil, as long as it is moist and well-drained. Your daffodil will prefer slightly acidic to neutral soil, and not too rich either as this can weaken the growth.
Food
A liquid feed will be beneficial in poor soil; feed at the start of the growing season for best results.
Pet-safe?
No, this plant is toxic to cats, dogs, horses and humans, so no nibbling!
Sprouts Top Tips
These are our top pick for limited spaces! They can grow in smaller patches of grass and in pots. If you're keeping them in a pot, make sure to add nutrients or fresh compost every year or so; these daffs will appreciate a nutrient boost in early spring while they are growing.
Extras
This plant has been given the RHS' prestigious Award of Garden Merit for its stellar all-round performance in the garden.
