The cascading vines and heart-shaped leaves of this Pothos are adorned with striking silver variegation. Scindapsus pictus ‘Silvery Anne’ stands out in any plant collection, catching your eye as it sparkles in the light. Known for its unique splashes of silver, concentrated on new growth, and soft-textured foliage this low-maintenance houseplant is perfect for hanging pots, climbing up a trellis or moss pole, or simply cascading from a high perch. Its shimmering foliage looks gorgeous amongst other houseplants and it thrives even in lower light conditions and if you occasionally water a bit late.
Scientific Name
Scindapsus pictus ‘Silvery Anne’ (painted skindapsos- a four-stringed musical instrument, cultivar: silvery Anne)
Synonyms: Pothos argenteus, Pothos argyraeus, Pothos argyraea, Scindapsus argyraeus, Pothos argyraeus, Scindapsus pothoides

Common Name(s)
Satin Pothos, Silver Vine, Silver Satin Plant, Silver Pothos, Silk Pothos, Silver Cloud
Origin
Native to Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia
Light
Prefers bright, indirect light to stay healthy and keep its silver variegation striking. It will tolerate lower light but if the silver colour starts to get less visible, it might be in need of slightly more light.
Water
Allow the top third of the soil to dry out between waterings. In shadier locations, allow up to half of the soil to dry. In lower light settings, too much water can cause root rot.
Humidity
Average indoor humidity is sufficient, but higher humidity will promote faster growth. Avoid placing near radiators or heaters, as they can dry the plant out. You can dust the plant by hosing it down occasionally, but to increase humidity it would be best to use a humidity tray - misting can encourage fungal issues in the foliage.
Soil
Plant in a well-draining, moisture-retentive potting mix. A blend designed for Monstera or Philodendrons works well for Satin Pothos. Repot every three years in spring or when it outgrows its pot.
Food
Feed every four waters during the growing season (spring and summer), reducing to every six waters in autumn and winter. Use a balanced liquid fertiliser diluted to half strength or one designed for houseplants.
Temperature
Thrives in temperatures between 18-30°C but should not be exposed to temperatures below 12°C in winter.
Pet-safe
No, this plant is toxic to pets and small children if ingested.
Sprouts Top Tips
Prune yellow or dying leaves to keep your plant looking its best. ‘Silvery Anne’ benefits from occasional trimming to promote bushier growth. Propagate cuttings in water or soil to grow new plants or fill out the pot.
