Every plant is carefully packed by our small, plant-loving Bristol team using protective, mostly plastic-free packaging.

Occasionally, you may find reused bubble wrap – this has been donated to us, and we encourage you to reuse it too.

Orders are usually packed and dispatched within 2–4 working days. We may occasionally delay dispatch during periods of extreme weather to protect your plants. We always prioritise plant health over speed of delivery.

Delivery is £4.99 for any number of items, or free on orders over £60. We deliver across the UK only.

We also offer local, bike-powered delivery in Bristol for £4.99 via Pedal Collective, a gentler option for plants and the planet.

We believe in paying people fairly, that’s why we’ve been a Real Living Wage Employer from the very beginning. We’re an independent Bristol business, packing every order ourselves.

Recycled crushed, washed and dried whelk shells.

This is ideal for the indoor plant pot and terrarium top dressing. Great for cacti, succulents and most houseplants. Alternatively, you can mix the shells into soil or compost to increase drainage.

About Shell on Earth
They're a small family business run by husband and wife team Jordan & Caryl Andrews. They take the crushed whelk shells generated at their family’s seafood processing factory and recycle them for use in gardens and landscaping.

It's estimated that 5000 tonnes of waste shells are generated in the UK fishing industry every year. They are proud to not only reduce our waste output from the factory but also to help support a circular economy by utilising 100% of the whelks they process.

This is a natural product from the sea and Shell on Earth does its best to remove any foreign material. All the packaging is recyclable. The white filler is made from vegetable starch and is compostable.

Crushed whelk shells praised for versatility and quality. Customers said "just what was needed for cacti arrangement" and noted good value for money. Used successfully for plant decoration, pest deterrence against slugs/snails, and fungus gnat control. Eco-friendly packaging appreciated. Fast delivery consistently mentioned.

Really impressed with this if this don’t deter the snails and slugs I don’t know what will but it’s sharp enough and more rigid than normal egg shells so I’m hoping for the best.
