This bold and long-flowering begonia produces masses of large blooms in a vibrant mix of colours, bringing continuous colour and lush foliage to baskets, patio containers, and shaded garden spaces throughout summer. Begonia ‘Limitless’ has a vigorous trailing to semi-trailing habit, creating full, abundant displays that flower reliably from late spring until the first frosts. Perfect for brightening patios, balconies, and sheltered outdoor areas, it performs especially well during cooler or wetter British summers.
Begonia ‘Limitless’, commonly known simply as Begonia, is loved for its impressive flowering power and easy-care nature. Available in a mix of bright shades, the flowers stand out beautifully against glossy green foliage and provide a tropical feel without needing intense summer heat. Its lush growth and excellent weather tolerance make it a brilliant choice for creating impactful summer baskets and container displays with minimal effort.
Tender Perennial
Bushy, Trailing, Long Flowering
Flowers: Late Spring to First Frosts
Foliage: Spring to Autumn
Scientific Name
Begonia ‘Limitless’
Common Name
Trailing Begonia, Basket Begonia
Origin
Cultivated hybrid developed from tropical and subtropical Begonia species originating from South America, Africa, and Asia
Pruning Tips
Remove faded flowers and damaged foliage regularly to keep plants tidy and encourage continued blooming. Light trimming can help maintain shape if needed.
Wildlife Value
Begonias are not particularly valuable for pollinators, although some insects may occasionally visit the flowers.
Positioning
Best grown in partial shade or bright sheltered positions in hanging baskets, patio pots, and window boxes. Protect from harsh midday sun and strong winds.
Water
Keep compost evenly moist during the growing season but avoid waterlogging. Water regularly during warmer weather, especially in containers and baskets.
Soil
Thrives in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-draining compost rich in organic matter. A good quality peat-free basket or container compost works well.
Food
Feed every 1–2 weeks with a balanced liquid fertiliser during the growing season to support strong flowering and healthy growth.
Pet-safe
Toxic if ingested by pets or humans, particularly the tubers, so keep out of reach of curious pets and children.
Sprouts Top Tips
Begonias are brilliant for brightening shadier patios and balconies where many sun-loving basket plants struggle to flower well.
