This cheerful, free flowering perennial produces masses of soft pink daisy-like flowers with sunny yellow centres above finely divided silver-green foliage. Blooming for months on end, Rhodanthemum hosmariense ‘Zagora Pink’ brings a touch of the Atlas Mountains to the garden, thriving in sunny borders, gravel gardens, alpine displays, and containers. Its compact habit and long flowering season make it a reliable source of colour from late spring well into autumn.
Rhodanthemum hosmariense ‘Zagora Pink’, commonly known as Moroccan Daisy, combines delicate beauty with impressive toughness. Adapted to dry, rocky mountain environments, it is exceptionally tolerant of heat and drought once established. The attractive foliage remains neat and tidy throughout the growing season, while the flowers are highly attractive to pollinating insects.

Scientific Name
Rhodanthemum hosmariense ‘Zagora Pink’ (rose-flowered Moroccan daisy)
Synonyms
Previously classified within the genus Chrysanthemum.
Common Name
Moroccan Daisy
Origin
The species Rhodanthemum hosmariense is native to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, where it grows in rocky, well-drained soils at higher elevations. ‘Zagora Pink’ is a cultivated variety selected for its abundant soft pink flowers and compact growth.
Pruning Tips
Deadhead regularly to encourage continuous flowering throughout the season. Lightly trim plants after the main flowering flush to maintain a neat shape and stimulate fresh blooms.
Wildlife Value
The nectar and pollen-rich flowers attract bees, hoverflies, butterflies, and other pollinating insects throughout the flowering season.
Positioning
Thrives in full sun and is ideal for gravel gardens, alpine beds, rockeries, raised beds, containers, and the front of sunny borders. Best planted in a warm, open position with excellent drainage.
Water
Water regularly during establishment. Once established, plants are drought tolerant and generally only require additional watering during prolonged periods of exceptionally dry weather.
Soil
Requires free-draining soil and performs particularly well in sandy, gritty, or stony conditions. Avoid heavy, waterlogged soils, especially during winter.
Food
Requires minimal feeding. A light application of balanced fertiliser in spring or an annual mulch of garden compost is usually sufficient.
Pet-safe
Generally regarded as non-toxic to cats, dogs, and horses.
Sprouts Top Tips
If growing in containers, add extra horticultural grit to your peat-free compost to improve drainage and help mimic the plant’s natural mountain habitat.
Did You Know?
The genus name Rhodanthemum combines the Greek words rhodon (rose) and anthemon (flower), referring to the attractive daisy blooms. Despite its delicate appearance, this mountain native is remarkably resilient and can cope with both summer drought and winter cold when grown in well-drained conditions.
