Begonia ‘Coral Pink’ is a beautiful cane begonia prized for its elegant clusters of soft coral-pink flowers and distinctive wing-shaped foliage, often decorated with silvery speckles. Sometimes referred to as an Angel Wing Begonia, this plant develops upright, bamboo-like stems that can grow quite tall indoors over time. With the right care and bright conditions, it can flower repeatedly throughout the year, bringing colour and graceful structure to shelves, windowsills, or plant stands.

Scientific Name
Begonia (Cane Begonia Group) ‘Coral Pink’ (begonia; named after Michel Bégon, a French colonial administrator and plant enthusiast)

Common Name
Coral Pink Begonia, Angel Wing Begonia, Cane Begonia

Origin
Cane begonias are hybrids derived primarily from species native to tropical and subtropical regions of Central and South America.

Light
Prefers bright, indirect light. A position near an east or west-facing window works well. Some gentle morning or evening sun is beneficial, but avoid strong midday sun which may scorch the leaves.

Water
Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry between waterings. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain away. Reduce watering slightly during winter when growth slows.

Humidity
Prefers moderate humidity but adapts well to typical indoor conditions. A pebble tray or grouping with other plants can help increase humidity if the air is very dry.

Soil
Use a well-draining houseplant mix that retains some moisture but does not stay wet. A blend containing compost, bark, and perlite works well.

Food
Feed every 3–4 waters during the growing season (spring through early autumn) with a balanced liquid houseplant fertiliser. Pause feeding in winter.

Temperature
Prefers temperatures between 18–26°C. Protect from cold draughts and avoid temperatures below 12°C.

Pet-safe
Toxic if ingested, so keep out of reach of pets and children.

Sprouts Top Tips
Pinching back the growing tips encourages bushier growth and more flowering stems.

Extras
Cane begonias can become tall and slightly woody with age. Stems can be pruned back or propagated easily from stem cuttings.

Did You Know?
The genus Begonia contains more than 2,000 species and thousands of hybrids, making it one of the largest and most diverse plant genera cultivated worldwide.
