A graceful and easy-going houseplant, Spathiphyllum ‘Sweet Benito’ is loved for its lush, glossy green leaves and elegant white blooms. The flowers rise above the foliage on slender stems, creating a clean and calming look that suits any indoor space. Reliable and relatively low-maintenance, it’s a classic choice for both beginners and seasoned plant lovers.

Scientific Name
Spathiphyllum ‘Sweet Benito’ (from Greek spathē meaning spathe and phyllon meaning leaf)

Common Name
Peace Lily

Origin
Derived from species native to tropical regions of Central and South America, where they grow in warm, shaded rainforest conditions.

Light
Prefers bright, indirect light but is very tolerant of lower light conditions. Lower light may reduce flowering but the plant will still grow.

Water
Keep the soil lightly moist. Allow the top layer to dry slightly between waterings. Peace Lilies will often droop when thirsty, but usually recover quickly after watering. Reduce watering in winter.

Humidity
Thrives in moderate to high humidity but adapts well to average household conditions.

Soil
Use a well-draining, moisture-retentive mix. A standard houseplant compost with added perlite works well.

Food
Feed every 3–4 waters during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser. Reduce feeding in autumn and winter.

Temperature
Prefers temperatures between 18–27°C. Avoid temperatures below 15°C and protect from cold drafts.

Pet-safe
Toxic if ingested, so keep out of reach of pets and children.

Sprouts Top Tips
If your Peace Lily isn’t flowering, try moving it to a brighter spot – more light usually encourages more blooms.

Extras
Wipe the leaves occasionally to keep them dust-free and glossy, helping the plant stay healthy.

Did You Know?
Peace Lilies are one of the few houseplants that will visibly “tell” you when they need water by drooping their leaves.
