1 in stock

Scientific Name
Begonia ferox

Common Name
Fierce Plant

Begonia ferox (ferox meaning 'fierce' in Latin), is a stunning member of the Begoniaceae family that is sure to get plenty of attention with its tactile spikey foliage, which despite appearances is actually soft to the touch. New growth will develop from smooth green shoots, into the dark green and spikey foliage that the plant is known for. Hailing from the limestone region of China, Guangxi, this easy to care for plant is a must-have, particularly for Begonia lovers.

Thrives in bright, indirect light, but will tolerate some shade. Keep the soil moist, but ensure good drainage and don't allow to sit in water.

Water when the top inch of soil is dry, and reduce watering in winter.

Likes above-average humidity, but ensure there is sufficient airflow around the plant.

Plant in fast-draining, but moisture-retentive soil. A mix with added bark or grit would be ideal. Re-pot once the plant and roots are crowding the pot.

Feed 3-4 times throughout the growing season.

Likes warmer temperatures above 20°C - don't keep somewhere where temperatures drop below 13°C in winter.

No, this plant is toxic to pets and small humans.

Sprouts Top Tips
Water directly into the soil - these Begonia's don't like getting their leaves wet.
