Caladium ‘Snow Flurry’ is a stunning fancy-leaf variety with crisp white leaves edged and veined in soft green. Its frosted, almost translucent foliage brings brightness to shaded corners indoors and makes a striking feature in outdoor summer pots or borders. With its elegant contrast and airy look, this white caladium adds a refreshing twist to any plant collection.

Scientific Name
Caladium bicolor ‘Snow Flurry’ (two-coloured keladi plant, cultivar: Snow Flurry)

Reclassification or Naming History
Like most ornamental caladiums, ‘Snow Flurry’ is classified as a cultivar of Caladium bicolor. The genus name comes from the Malay keladi, meaning taro.

Common Name(s)
Elephant Ear, Heart of Jesus, Angel Wings, White Caladium

Origin
Cultivated variety derived from species native to the Amazon Basin in South America, especially Brazil.

Light
Prefers bright, indirect light indoors. A little soft morning or evening sun in autumn and winter is beneficial, but avoid harsh summer rays which may scorch the delicate white leaves. Outdoors, choose a shaded or part-shaded spot.

Water
Keep soil evenly moist during the growing season, watering when the top third has dried out. Reduce watering in autumn and winter when growth slows or the plant enters dormancy. Avoid waterlogging to protect the tubers.

Humidity
Loves high humidity. Mist regularly, place on a pebble tray, or position near a humidifier to prevent leaf edges from browning.

Soil
Use a moisture-retentive but free-draining mix. A rich, organic soil blend works well. Repot every 2–3 years in spring if required.

Food
Feed with a balanced fertiliser every 4 waters in the growing season, reducing to every 6 in autumn and winter.

Temperature
Keep between 18–30°C. Growth slows below 15°C, and the plant may enter dormancy in cooler conditions. Protect from temperatures below 10°C.

Pet-safe
No – Caladium ‘Snow Flurry’ is toxic if ingested by pets or humans.

Sprouts Top Tips
The delicate white leaves of ‘Snow Flurry’ make it especially rewarding when contrasted with darker-foliaged houseplants. Like all caladiums, it will naturally die back in autumn and winter. Store the tubers in a dry, dark place, and replant in spring for another season of snowy-white growth.
